Monmouth novella sent off today!

Hi everyone! I’ve been a busy little bee in recent days, well, recent months. After writing the novella, sending it around to four proofreaders, hacking it up and re-writing bits, changing things here and there, I finally just sent it to the publishers.

It’s quite an experience, I have to say, waiting around, sweaty-palmed, my heartbeat nearing palpitation level, excitement and worry and doubt and exhilaration flooding my entire being. 38,000 words exactly, and I hope they’ll like it, and more importantly, I hope the readers like it.

I didn’t have a great amount of time to finish it in (started in early March), and thankfully, I had done some research on Monmouth before, so I didn’t have to waste my time learning about him from basics. It was due on 1 May, so I’m pleased it was in there two days ahead of schedule (yey!).

I made this the other day!

I made this the other day!

The main reason for writing a post is to apologise for not having posted any thing in over a week, nor doing a podcast. I’m afraid my time has been swallowed up, and I’m getting back into the Garden History Tours at Kensington Palace this week, so I’m going to have to peruse my notes for that. I’ll let you all know if/when the novella will be available, and what we finally decide to name it!

I’ve been toying with the following:

Monmouth: Love and Rebellion in the Seventeenth Century

His Last Mistress: The Duke of Monmouth & Lady Henrietta Wentworth

The Rebel Duke’s Last Mistress

Hmm… I really don’t know.

In the meantime, I think I’ll avoid any caffeinated beverages!

[UPDATE May 1st, 2013: This just in! The publishers have chosen “His Last Mistress” as the title!!]
